Claude Martel

Claude Martel, B.Sc.PT.

Registered Physiotherapist

A native of North Bay, Claude studied at the University of Ottawa where he obtained his bachelor of science in Physiotherapy. He graduated with the impressive designation of Magna Cum Laude. Claude is also an Acupuncturist and provides Functional Capacity Evaluations.

If Claude cannot be found in the clinic you can be sure he’s enjoying the outdoors while fishing or hunting.

Michael Mitchell

Michael Mitchell, H.B.Sc.,B.Sc.PT.

Registered Physiotherapist

After completing his undergraduate degree at Queen’s University, Mike completed his physiotherapy degree at the University of Toronto where he was voted Valedictorian of his graduating class. Mike enjoys a variety of clinical work as well as growing the practice. When not working you can find Mike on the court coaching youth basketball, or enjoying the outdoors while golfing, mountain biking, or skiing.

Aubrey Arnocky

Aubrey Arnocky, HBSc, MScPT

Registered Physiotherapist

Aubrey is a graduate of Queen’s University’s Master of Physiotherapy program. Originally from Sault Ste Marie, Aubrey enjoys living and working in Northern Ontario. Aubrey is an intermediate Manual Therapist and has post-graduate education in vestibular rehabilitation, concussion management, and acupuncture. She has also helped to develop our Cardiac Rehab program. She practices in our North Bay and Powassan clinic locations.

Lindsay Bender

Lindsay Bender, MScPT, BScKin

Registered Physiotherapist

Lindsay has an undergraduate degree in Kinesiology from Laurentian University and a Master’s in Physical Therapy from Queen’s University (2019). Lindsay joined the Martel & Mitchell Rehabilitation team after graduation. She uses a combination of education, exercise, manual therapy, and acupuncture to create an individualized plan to help you achieve your goals. Lindsay practices in our North Bay and Powassan clinic locations. When not at the clinic, you can find her spending time outdoors with her dog.

Brittany Gore

Brittany Gore, HBA, MSc.OT, OT Reg. (Ont.)

Occupational Therapist

Brittany is a Registered Occupational Therapist in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists and a member of the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists. Brittany obtained her Honours Bachelors of Psychology Degree from Nipissing University and a Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy Degree from McMaster University. When Brittany is not working, you can find her enjoying the sunshine and spending time with her husband and three young children.

Micheline Hall

Micheline Hall M.Sc. PT

Registered Physiotherapist

A graduate of the Universite de Moncton with a Bachelor of Social Work and a Master of Health Sciences, Physiotherapy from the Universite d’Ottawa, Micheline is our bilingual physiotherapist in our Mattawa clinic. Micheline gained work and life experiences in Ottawa and Newfoundland before moving to Mattawa and getting married in 2019.

Madhura Kumar

Madhura Kumar, MScPT

Registered Physiotherapist

Madhura completed a Masters in Physical Therapy at University of Mumbai, India in 1998. She moved to Canada in 2007 along with her family and to North Bay in 2014. She has previously worked in Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and NBRHC and joined Martel and Mitchell in 2018. Madhura has completed courses in wound care and palliative care education. Apart from working in LTCs, Madhura in involved in our cardiac rehab program at our Cassells Street clinic.

Alissa Mitchell

Alissa Mitchell, BA, BEd, MACP

Registered Psychotherapist

Having transitioned from an Ontario Certified Teacher to Registered Psychotherapist, Alissa has years of experience working with children, adolescents, parents, and individuals as they meet the challenges of life head-on. Using evidence-based treatments such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, she provides a safe, caring, and non-judgmental space with in-person or virtual sessions.

Tristan Tremblay

Tristan Tremblay, HBPHE, MSc.OT, OT Reg. (Ont.)

Occupational Therapist

Tristan earned her Honors Bachelor of Physical Health and Education degree from Nipissing University before going on to complete her Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy degree at McMaster University. When not in the clinic, you can find Tristan fishing, backcountry camping, or hiking with her dog, Murphy.

Nathan Verbeek

Nathan Verbeek, MScPT, BHK

Registered Physiotherapist

Nathan completed his undergraduate studies at University of Ottawa while working as a strength trainer for the Canadian Armed Forces. He most recently graduated from Western University with his Masters of Physical Therapy. Nathan recently moved to North Bay so he could maximize his time outdoors spent fishing, hiking, and camping.

Greg Grierson

Greg Grierson, BScPT

Registered Physiotherapist

Greg graduated in 1993 from the University of Western Ontario with his Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy. He spent over 30 years in Durham region working in private practice treating mainly musculoskeletal and sports injuries. Greg still owns and helps run 2 clinics in Whitby and Oshawa, but recently moved to North Bay to enjoy the outdoor opportunities. When not at his cottage in the Temagami area you will find him playing hockey, fishing, exercising, or working outside in the garden.

Benjamin Ayling

Physiotherapy Resident

Ben joins us a graduate of Masters of Physiotherapy from the University of Canberra in Australia. His wife Laura was born and raised in North Bay and their family including 2 young children now call North Bay home. Ben is interested in all things outdoors including mountain biking and golfing in the summer and snowboarding and skating in the winter. Ben has spent his career in musculoskeletal private practice and has further training in lumbar spine, hip and pelvis injuries, is certified in dry needling as well as Strength and Conditioning. He has an interest in all injuries of the lower back/ pelvis through to lower limb and loves helping patients return to their physically active best.

Laura Ayling

Laura Ayling, BKin, MPT

Physiotherapy Resident

After completing her Bachelor in Kinesiology at the University of Toronto Laura then obtained a Master of Physiotherapy degree from the University of Canberra, Australia. After five years of practice in Australia, Laura returned to her hometown of North Bay in 2022 with her Australian husband Ben and daughter. Laura’s clinical interests include sporting injuries, in particular gymnastics and volleyball, as well as neurological rehabilitation and general musculoskeletal injuries. Outside of work, Laura leads an active lifestyle and enjoys playing volleyball, snowboarding, and swimming in Trout Lake.

Jesslynn Emms

Jesslynn Emms, BA Kin

Registered Kinesiologist

Jesslynn graduated with a degree in Kinesiology form York University. Originally from North Bay, she returned home for the great access to outdoor activities. Jesslynn spends her time in clinic between WSIB and aquatic therapy programming. When not in clinic she can be found coaching competitive gymnastics or spending time with her dogs.

Gillian Hayne

Registered Kinesiologist

Gillian joined our team in 2016 and has worked in long-term care, aquatic therapy, and now spends most of her clinical time on our WSIB Specialty Program Treatment Team.

Stephanie Horsman

Stephanie Horsman, H.B.Sc.

Business Operations Director

Stephanie started with Martel + Mitchell in 2009 as a Kinesiologist. She served various roles including Aquatic Therapist until 2017 when she moved into a management role. Stephanie works diligently to ensure the day-to-day operations of the business run efficiently and effectively. Her portfolio includes Clinic Operations, Human Resources & Payroll, and Information Technology.

Sarah Kane

Sarah Kane, HBPHE (Honours)

Program Manager – Ontario Workers Network, Kinesiology Lead

Sarah joined our team as a student in 2018 and then became a staff Registered Kinesiologist. She has since taken on numerous roles as a clinician and program coordinator. As the Program Manager for OWN, Sarah manages our Musculoskeletal Specialty Program working closely with our partners at NBRHC and OWN to rehabilitate injured workers. As the Kinesiology Lead, she coordinates training and clinical scope of work for our team of Kinesiologists.

Janet Trach

Janet Trach

Administration Support Manager

Originally from the Muskoka area, Janet worked in Long-Term Care for over 20 years before joining our Martel and Mitchell team in February 2020. When not at the clinic, Janet enjoys backcountry canoe trips, fishing and spending time with her family.
