Claude Martel

Claude Martel, B.Sc.PT.

Co-Founder & Registered Physiotherapist

A native of North Bay, Claude studied at the University of Ottawa where he obtained his Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy graduating with the impressive designation of Magna Cum Laude. After graduation Claude spent two years as a hospital-based therapist before starting his private practice in 1997.
If Claude cannot be found in the clinic you can be sure he’s enjoying the outdoors while fishing or hunting.

Michael Mitchell

Michael Mitchell, H.B.Sc.,B.Sc.PT.

Co-Founder & Registered Physiotherapist

After completing his undergraduate degree at Queen’s University, Mike completed his physiotherapy degree at the University of Toronto where he was voted Valedictorian of his graduating class. After more than 20 years of clinical work, Mike’s emphasis is now growing and managing our multidisciplinary team.
When not working you can find Mike on the court coaching youth basketball, or enjoying the outdoors golfing, mountain biking, or skiing.

Aubrey Arnocky

Aubrey Arnocky, HBSc, MScPT

Registered Physiotherapist

Aubrey practices in our North Bay and Powassan clinics. Originally from Sault Ste Marie, Aubrey is a graduate of Queen’s University’s Master of Physiotherapy program. Aubrey is an intermediate Manual Therapist with post-graduate education in vestibular rehabilitation, concussion management, and acupuncture. She has also helped to develop our Cardiac Rehab program.

Benjamin Ayling

Registered Physiotherapist

Ben is our resident Aussie physio who joins us a graduate of Masters of Physiotherapy from the University of Canberra in Australia. His wife Laura is from North Bay, and they have chosen to raise their young family here in beautiful North Bay. Ben has spent his career in musculoskeletal private practice with training in lumbar spine, hip and pelvis injuries; dry needling; and Strength and Conditioning. He has an interest in all injuries of the lower back/ pelvis through to lower limb and loves helping patients return to their physically active best. Ben loves all things outdoors including mountain biking, golfing, and snowboarding.

Laura Ayling

Laura Ayling, BKin, MPT

Registered Physiotherapist

After completing her Bachelor in Kinesiology at the University of Toronto Laura obtained a Master of Physiotherapy degree from the University of Canberra, Australia. After five years of practice in Australia, Laura returned to her hometown of North Bay in 2022 with her Australian husband Ben and daughter. Laura’s clinical interests include sporting injuries, in particular gymnastics and volleyball, as well as neurological rehabilitation and general musculoskeletal injuries. Outside of work, Laura leads an active lifestyle and enjoys playing volleyball, snowboarding, and swimming in Trout Lake.

Lindsay Bender

Lindsay Bender, MScPT, BScKin

Registered Physiotherapist

Lindsay practices in our North Bay and Powassan clinics. She has an undergraduate degree in Kinesiology from Laurentian University and a Master’s in Physical Therapy from Queen’s University (2019). Lindsay uses a combination of education, exercise, manual therapy, and acupuncture to create an individualized plan to help you achieve your goals. When not at the clinic, you can find her spending time outdoors with her dog.

Greg Grierson

Greg Grierson, BScPT

Registered Physiotherapist

Greg graduated in 1993 from the University of Western Ontario with his Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy. After spending 30 years in Durham region working in private practice treating mainly musculoskeletal and sports injuries, Greg moved to North Bay to enjoy the outdoor opportunities. If not at his cottage in Temagami you will find Greg playing hockey, fishing, exercising, or working outside in the garden.

Micheline Hall

Micheline Hall M.Sc. PT

Registered Physiotherapist

Micheline is our bilingual physiotherapist in our Mattawa clinic. She is a graduate of the Universite de Moncton with a Bachelor of Social Work and a Master of Health Sciences, Physiotherapy from the Universite d’Ottawa. Micheline gained work and life experiences in Ottawa and Newfoundland before joining our team in 2019. Micheline loves living in Mattawa and serving her community.

Madhura Kumar

Madhura Kumar, MScPT

Registered Physiotherapist

Madhura joined our team in 2018 after working at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and NBRHC. She completed a Masters in Physical Therapy at University of Mumbai, India in 1998 and moved to Canada in 2007 along with her family and to North Bay in 2014. Madhura has completed courses in wound care and palliative care education. Madhura’s practice is focused on senior’s care both in long-term care and in the community.

Nathan Verbeek

Nathan Verbeek, MScPt,BHK

Registered Physiotherapist

Nathan joined our team in 2022 and works in our North Bay and Mattawa clinics. He completed his undergraduate studies at University of Ottawa while working as a strength trainer for the Canadian Armed Forces before graduating from Western University with his Masters of Physical Therapy. Nathan moved to North Bay for the active lifestyle opportunities so he could maximize his time outdoors spent fishing, hiking, and camping.

Suzanne Denis, HBAS, MSc.OT, OT Reg. (Ont.)

Occupational Therapist

Suzanne obtained her Honours Bachelor of Applied Sciences in Child and Family Studies, with minor in Gerontology from the University of Guelph and a Master’s of Science in Occupational Therapy from Western University.  Suzanne has over 13 years of experience in pediatric and adult OT services in North Bay.  When not working, she can be found enjoying her gardens, ski slopes, and the simple life pleasures with family and friends.

Brittany Gore

Brittany Gore, HBA, MSc.OT, OT Reg. (Ont.)

Occupational Therapist

Brittany obtained her Honours Bachelors of Psychology from Nipissing University and a Master’s of Science in Occupational Therapy from McMaster University. She launched our OT services in 2016 and has been integral to developing our very successful interdisciplinary care models. When Brittany is not working, you can find her enjoying the sunshine and spending time with her husband and three young children.

Tristan Tremblay

Occupational Therapist

Tristan earned her Honors Bachelor of Physical Health and Education from Nipissing University before going on to complete her Master’s of Science in Occupational Therapy at McMaster University. Tristan is passionate about supporting her clients to achieve their goals and resume meaningful activities and appreciates supporting the community as an OT in North Bay, where she was born and raised. When not in the clinic, you can find Tristan fishing, backcountry camping, or hiking with her dog, Murphy.

Jesslynn Emms

Jesslynn Emms, BA Kin

Registered Kinesiologist

Jesslynn graduated with a degree in Kinesiology form York University. Originally from North Bay, she returned home for the great access to outdoor activities. Jesslynn focus is on exercise therapy and functional testing. When not in clinic she can be found coaching competitive gymnastics or spending time with her dogs.

Gillian Hayne

Gillian Hayne B.Sc. Kin (Honours)

Registered Kinesiologist

Gillian is a Registered Kinesiologist who joined our team in 2016. She enjoys working on a multidisciplinary team and primarily uses exercise to help improve clients’ functional abilities following injury or illness. Gillian also coordinates our student placements to promote an optimal learning experience.

Sarah Kane

Sarah Kane, HBPHE (Honours)

Program Manager – Ontario Workers Network, Kinesiology Lead

Sarah joined our team as a student in 2018 and then became a staff Registered Kinesiologist. She has since taken on numerous roles as a clinician and program coordinator. As the Program Manager for OWN, Sarah manages our Musculoskeletal Specialty Program working closely with our partners at NBRHC and OWN to rehabilitate injured workers. As the Kinesiology Lead, she coordinates training and clinical scope of work for our team of Kinesiologists.

Devyn Martel, HBPHE (Honours)

Registered Kinesiologist

Devyn is a Registered Kinesiologist who graduated from Nipissing University with a degree in Physical and Health Education. His focus is aquatic therapy and senior’s care. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time outdoors, fishing, playing sports, and working on home renovations.

Sonam Robotham, HBPHE (Honours)

Registered Kinesiologist

Sonam graduated with a bachelor’s degree in physical and health education from Nipissing University. Shortly after writing the entry-to-practice exam, Sonam joined our team as a Registered Kinesiologist. She keeps busy at the clinic by providing aquatic therapy and exercise programming as well as treating seniors in the community.

Stephanie Horsman

Stephanie Horsman, H.B.Sc.

Business Operations Director

Stephanie joined our team in 2009 as a Kinesiologist with a focus on aquatic therapy until 2017 when she moved into a management role. Stephanie works diligently to ensure the day-to-day operations of the business run efficiently and effectively. Her portfolio includes Clinic Operations, Human Resources & Payroll, and Information Technology.

Janet Trach

Janet Trach

Administration and Patient Experience Manager

Janet joined our administrative team in 2020 quickly proving her value in patient experience coordination. Now in a management role, Janet is responsible for coordinating the patient’s journey from intake to discharge by managing our Patient Experience Coordinators, overseeing billing and collection, and health & safety. When not working, she enjoys backcountry canoe trips and spending time with her family
